What is a stay at Covey Kennels like?

Each dog gets its own 5'x4' indoor kennel with an outdoor playpen. Every kennel has an orthopedic Kuranda bed, and the building is climate-controlled. Dogs get several 15-minute exercise sessions in the play yards during their stay.

Socialization is indirect and controlled. Dogs can be around other dogs without direct contact. That suits owners who would rather their dog skip open group play.

What makes it different?

Training is what sets this kennel apart from a typical boarding stop. The kennel's own site describes a hands-on, step-by-step approach to retriever work and everyday obedience. It also puts weight on teaching owners how to keep that training going at home. The boarding side follows the same idea, with a steady daily routine and regular exercise.

Owners who want to send a little extra along can add treats, such as a peanut butter Kong or Greenies.
