Gillshire Kennels

Gillshire Kennels is a dog boarding facility at 2519 128th St E in Tacoma, WA, with a focus on geriatric and senior pet care. If your older dog needs medication, a special diet or a bit more attention, this kennel is built around that kind of care.

What sets Gillshire Kennels apart?

The kennel specializes in senior pets, and that shapes how it works. Staff can give medication and handle special diets during a stay. The kennel says it pays attention to each animal's needs, from health conditions down to favorite toys and preferred ways of being comforted.

Each pet gets its own indoor space, and the indoor areas are climate controlled. Dogs also have an outdoor yard.

What services and amenities are offered?

• Traditional and medical boarding
• Medication administration
• Special diets
• Individual climate-controlled indoor spaces
• Outdoor yard for dogs

Does it board pets other than dogs?

Yes. Dogs are the main focus, but Gillshire also boards cats, rabbits, birds, guinea pigs and tortoises. That helps Tacoma households with more than one kind of pet, since they can board everyone in one place.

Can owners visit before booking?

Gillshire welcomes facility tours and meet-and-greets without an appointment. If you're boarding an older dog for the first time, it makes sense to see the space in person first. The kennel is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on Sundays.
