Countryside Pet Resort

Countryside Pet Resort offers dog boarding and doggie daycare at 16325 Prince Frederick Rd. in Hughesville, Maryland. The resort also handles grooming, dog training and cat boarding, so Southern Maryland families can book most of their pet care in one place.

What are the rooms like?

Dogs stay in either a pet condo or a Premium or Family suite. Every one of these rooms has its own private outdoor patio. Nightly boarding rates on the resort's website run from $48 to $63, depending on the room. Cats get their own private feline suites, which come with cat trees and scratching posts.

What does a stay include?

• Partially shaded outdoor yards with playground equipment and toys
• Indoor play space
• Food at no extra charge, or bring your dog's usual food
• Medication administration and special diets
• On-site grooming and training

What sets it apart?

The extras go well beyond standard boarding. Owners can add à la carte activities or pick a themed boarding package, with options like waterpark time, woodland walks, birthday parties and chef-made treats. The resort says it treats guests like its own pets, and the add-on menu shows it wants dogs to stay busy, not just kenneled.

Countryside Pet Resort has signed The Dog Gurus Safety Pledge and belongs to IBPSA, the International Boarding & Pet Services Association. Its training services include a board-and-train option, which suits owners who want to combine a stay with some work on manners.
