About The Wright Pet Resort
The Wright Pet Resort offers dog boarding in Pottsville, PA, plus separate cat boarding, from its location at 221 PA-183. Dogs stay in resort-style suites large enough to hold more than one dog from the same household, so families with two or three dogs can keep them together. Cats board in their own building, in a quiet room off the main office.
Services and amenities
- 15 large dog runs and 10 small dog runs, with the large runs opening to private outdoor space through dog doors
- 9 cat condos in a building separate from the dogs
- Heated and air-conditioned buildings, plus an expanded outdoor play area
- Supervised play groups sorted by size and weight
- Bathing, nail trims, and medication administration
What sets it apart
Capacity is 25 pets, which keeps the operation small. Before a dog joins a play group it gets a temperament test, and staff stay with the group the whole time it runs. Dogs go out about five times a day, with the first trip outside between 6:30 and 7 a.m. Every dog is given a sturdy Kuranda bed and a blanket, and cats get a padded bed along with litter and a litter box. Medications can be given during a stay, including insulin injections for diabetic pets, and the business is owned by a veterinary technician.
Rates and booking
One dog is $38 a day. Two dogs sharing a run are $35 each, and three sharing are $32 each, provided there is no food aggression. Cat boarding is $17 a day, or $15 per cat when two or more share. A bath is included after a stay of 10 days. Reservations are made by phone at (570) 739-7683, and proof of current vaccinations has to be faxed or emailed before arrival. From Memorial Day through Labor Day and on holidays, stays are charged at a three-day minimum, and deposits may be required.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does boarding cost per day?
Dog boarding is $38 a day for one dog, $35 per dog for two dogs sharing a run, and $32 per dog for three sharing, as long as there is no food aggression. Cat boarding is $17 a day, or $15 per cat for two or more sharing. Medications are given for $2 a day, and insulin injections are $3 each.
What vaccinations does my pet need?
Dogs must be current on rabies, DHPP or DHLPP, and bordetella. Cats must be current on rabies and FVRCP. Proof from a veterinarian has to be faxed or emailed before arrival, and pets should also be on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
When can I drop off and pick up my dog?
Check-in and check-out are Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. or 4 to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. or at 5 p.m. Holiday hours are subject to change. Picking up during the morning window does not add a day to the bill; a 5 p.m. pickup does.
Can my two dogs stay in the same run?
Yes, dogs kenneled together must be from the same household, and shared runs are billed at the lower per-dog rate. The kennel may separate dogs who are not compatible, and the owner is billed for the second unit. No staff are on site overnight, usually between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., so that is worth weighing before boarding pets together.
Will my dog get to play with other dogs?
Yes. Dogs are tested first so they land in the right play group, and groups are arranged by size and weight. Staff monitor group play the entire time, and dogs are let out about five times over the course of the day.
What should I bring for my pet's stay?
Food is the only required item. Treats, toys, a bed, or blankets are welcome but optional, since the kennel provides food and water dishes, a Kuranda bed, and a blanket for each dog, plus litter, litter boxes, and a padded bed for cats.
