Tall Oaks Dog Resort

Tall Oaks Dog Resort is a cage-free dog boarding and daycare facility on Spencer Creek Road in Eugene, Oregon. Dogs here aren't kept in individual kennels. Tall Oaks uses a social, pack-based approach, so guests spend their days with other dogs. Boarding costs $40 per night, and reservations and payments are handled online.

How does pack-based boarding work here?

Dogs at Tall Oaks are grouped by size and spend the day together. Small dogs (25 lbs or less) and large dogs (26 lbs or more) each have their own facility. The resort describes its goal as hands-on attention in a natural setting, so that each dog feels cared for while its owner is away.

Heather Parr runs the resort. She is an experienced dog handler with a background in canid behavior research. Her approach to the pack-based setup draws on that experience with how dogs behave in groups.

What's included in a stay?

• Cage-free, social boarding in size-based groups
• Indoor and outdoor access during the day in a natural outdoor environment
• Climate-controlled indoor space
• Filtered drinking water in automatic water bowls
• Daycare and pickup/drop-off service

Is it a good fit for your dog?

Tall Oaks accepts dogs of every size, from small breeds up to giant dogs. Social dogs that like company will probably do well in the group setting. If a dog is nervous around other dogs, the owner may want to call ahead and talk through how the groups work before booking.
