Sophie Says Pet Care

Sophie Says Pet Care is a cage-free pet care service in Richmond, VA, offering in-home dog boarding, dog daycare, midday walks, and drop-in visits. Dogs who board stay overnight in a home setting alongside Fern, the resident dog.

What services does Sophie Says Pet Care offer?

The focus is personal, home-based care for dogs. Cats and small animals are welcome too. Key services include:

• In-home overnight boarding with resident dog Fern
• Dog daycare for pups who don't enjoy long stretches alone
• Midday walks and drop-in visits
• Pickup and drop-off rides for dogs
• Medication administration

How does it compare to a traditional kennel?

Boarding happens in a home, and owners get daily text updates while they're away. The approach relies on fear-free and positive reinforcement techniques. That can make a real difference for nervous or sensitive dogs.

The business also has experience with special-needs and senior pets. If your older dog takes daily medication or needs a gentler routine, the first meeting is a good time to talk it through. Sophie Says Pet Care is fully insured.

What should owners know before booking?

New clients start with a free meet & greet, so owners and dogs can get comfortable before the first stay. Booking is handled by phone at 804-475-2848, and general questions can go to info@SophieSaysPetCare.com. Published rates on the website run from $40 to $70 per night.

This is a good fit for owners in Richmond who want a quieter, more personal setting than a large boarding facility. A dog who gets along with other dogs will have Fern for company, and owners get regular updates throughout the stay.
