Lakeside Pet Care and Training

Lakeside Pet Care and Training is an in-home dog boarding and training service in Richmond, VA, where dogs stay overnight as part of the household instead of in a commercial kennel. Only a few dogs are boarded at a time, and each one gets a quiet, safe personal space of its own.

What is boarding like here?

Boarding is cage-free and built around everyday home life. Dogs join the household for their overnight stay, and they spend outdoor time in a spacious backyard enclosed by a 6-foot wooden privacy fence. With so few dogs in the house, the setting stays calmer than a busy facility. That can matter a lot for dogs who get anxious around noise and crowds.

What services are offered?

• Cage-free, in-home overnight boarding
• Board and train programs
• Private obedience and behavior lessons
• Virtual dog training
• Grooming

Who handles the training?

Training is the other half of the business, and the credentials are specific. Certifications include KPA-CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner), Pets for Vets Trainer, and AKC Canine College. All training follows guidelines from the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB), and the site describes the approach as humane and science-based.

Focus areas include puppy training, behavior modification, service dog training, and Canine Good Citizen preparation. For owners who want progress on manners or behavior while they travel, the board and train option combines a home-style stay with structured work.

What should owners know before booking?

Dogs must be up to date on their vaccinations before they stay. Booking is handled online through the Lakeside Pet Care and Training website, and the business also keeps Facebook and Instagram pages. Because only a few dogs are boarded at once, it's worth asking about dates well before a trip.
