Barkin' B & B

Barkin' B & B is a kennel-free, in-home pet care business at 4613 Chipoax Ave in Richmond, VA, offering overnight boarding and daycare for dogs plus overnight stays for cats. Owners searching for dog boarding in Richmond who want a house setting instead of rows of runs will find that here. Dogs of every size are welcome, from small breeds to giants.

What services does Barkin' B & B offer?

The business keeps its menu short and focused on home-style care:

• Overnight dog boarding, kennel-free inside the home
• Doggie daycare with a large outdoor play area stocked with toys
• Overnight cat boarding
• A pool and splash pad for dogs to cool off in summer
• Personalized one-on-one attention during each stay

How is it different from a traditional kennel?

The biggest difference is the setting. Pets stay in a home rather than a facility, and they share it with resident dog and cat hosts. That suits social dogs that do well around other animals and might get stressed in a loud kennel building.

The website puts the backyard at the center of the day. Dogs get room to run and play, and the pool and splash pad give them a way to cool down when Richmond summers turn hot. Care is described as personal and family-style, with one-on-one attention rather than a large staff rotation. The caregiver is fully insured and bonded.

What does it cost, and how do you book?

Published rates on the Barkin' B & B website run from $25 to $45 per night, depending on the service. Booking is handled online through the website. Its Instagram account shows more of the day-to-day side of the business for owners who want a closer look before reserving.

For dog owners who care more about a homey, hands-on stay than a big commercial building, Barkin' B & B is worth a look.
