River Dogs Resort

River Dogs Resort offers dog boarding in West Sacramento, along with cage-free stays, private suites, and dog daycare at its property on Hart Avenue. The setting is tree-lined and park-like, close to downtown Sacramento, which makes it an easy drop-off for owners on either side of the river.

The kennel describes its goal simply: give each dog the same care and attention it gets at home. Its own tagline sums up the mood: kicking up dirt, making friends, and having fun.

What does a typical day look like?

The heart of the property is a private, fenced 1-acre yard where dogs are free to roam. Boarding dogs get 4-6 hours of outdoor playtime every day, so most guests head to bed tired. Owners receive daily text and photo updates during the stay. The staff point out that replies can lag a little when they are outside with the dogs, but they answer as soon as they can.

What services are available?

• Traditional and cage-free overnight boarding
• Dog daycare
• Private dog apartment rentals for dogs who need their own space
• Added care options for puppies and elderly dogs
• A long-term boarding discount for stays of 28 days or more
