Port Rover

Port Rover is a dog boarding and daycare facility at 3112-3114 Tyre Neck Road in Portsmouth, VA, offering overnight stays, supervised group play and grooming in one place. Its approach centers on fitting care to each dog, with separate options for social dogs and for dogs who do better on their own.

What services does Port Rover offer?

The kennel splits its care into a few distinct programs. That makes it easier for owners to match the service to their dog's temperament.

• Day School: supervised group play and enrichment for dogs who enjoy company
• Adventure Club: one-on-one activities for dogs who aren't suited to group play
• Overnight boarding: private accommodations with at least four potty breaks a day
• All-Inclusive Boarding: adds daily enrichment and a daily report card
• Grooming: available on site

How is overnight boarding set up?

Boarding guests stay in private accommodations, and every stay includes at least four daily potty breaks. The facility has both outdoor space and indoor play areas. Dogs from the same household can request to stay together. Nightly rates run from $49 to $85, depending on the boarding option chosen.

What makes it different?

The Adventure Club is the standout for owners whose dogs don't enjoy group play. Instead of sitting out while other dogs socialize, those dogs get structured individual time. Daily report cards also give owners a clear picture of how their dog spent the day. The overall feel is personal, with a team that aims to learn each dog's routine and comfort level.
