Paws in Motion

Paws in Motion is an in-home dog boarding and daycare service in Penrose, NC. Boarding dogs stay in the family home instead of a kennel building. The business holds an NC Department of Agriculture kennel license and serves dog owners around Brevard and the DuPont area.

What does a typical day look like?

The day starts with a structured morning walk. After that, dogs play in small, supervised groups in a shaded, fenced-in yard. Training is part of the daily routine, so play time also builds good manners. Dogs rest in crates during the day and sleep in crates overnight, so a dog that is already relaxed in a crate will settle in more easily.

What makes it different from a traditional kennel?

The main difference is the setting. Dogs spend their stay in a household, and the owners describe a calm, family-style routine rather than a busy facility. They are careful about which dogs join the group and look for friendly dogs that get along well with others. The home is smoke-free. Small, medium, large and giant breeds are all accepted.

Practical details for owners

The kennel's website lists boarding at $50 per night. Vaccinations are required for every dog. Bookings are handled by email. Meet-and-greets are by appointment only, so owners should get in touch before stopping by. Paws in Motion is at 17 Serendipity Lane, Penrose, NC 28766, and the phone number is (828) 577-7053.
