FlatTop K9

FlatTop K9 is a dog training business in Murfreesboro, TN, that offers in-home dog boarding alongside board-and-train programs. Dogs stay in a home setting instead of a row of kennel runs. That suits owners who want a boarding stay to double as training time.

What services does FlatTop K9 offer?

Training is the core of the business, and boarding fits in beside it. The main options are:

• In-home dog boarding
• Board and train, covering obedience and e-collar training
• Private one-on-one lessons
• Behavior modification
• A go-home lesson plus lifetime follow-up coaching

How does the training approach work?

The website describes a style that starts with the relationship. The trainer builds a bond and trust with the dog first, and formal training begins after that. Food and play are the main rewards. Dogs are told clearly when they get something right and when they get it wrong.

Owners receive progress updates with pictures and videos along the way. When the dog goes home, the owner gets a go-home lesson so the work carries over. Follow-up coaching is available for the life of the dog.

Who is it a good fit for?

FlatTop K9 is direct about the fact that training takes commitment from the owner too. The site asks owners whether they are ready to keep up the work at home once the dog returns. It also asks whether they are willing to talk through their dog's issues by phone first. Owners who plan to practice after pickup will likely get the most out of it.
