Big Creek Pet Lodge

Big Creek Pet Lodge is a family-owned kennel in Madrid, IA that offers dog boarding and daycare for dogs from around Central Iowa. The lodge sits at 2360 Violet Ave, and reservations are handled online.

What the lodge offers

Dogs stay in individual indoor kennels, either 4'x6' or 4'x8', and each one has a Kuranda raised cot so dogs sleep up off the floor. The building is climate controlled, and the kennel floors are heated geothermally, which matters in an Iowa January. Outside, there is a 1-acre fenced play yard along with an enclosed turf area divided into separate runs.

How dogs spend the day

Group play is arranged by size and temperament, so a small senior dog isn't mixed in with a crowd of big adolescents. Dogs that do better on their own can be let out separately. Between the indoor play room and the acre of fenced yard there is room to move, then a quiet kennel and a cot to come back to.

Practical details

The lodge is open 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. Vaccinations are required. Booking is done online, and questions can go to (515) 229-5044 or bigcreekpetlodge@gmail.com.
