The Muttropolitan

The Muttropolitan is a dog boarding and daycare facility at 5205 South Tacoma Way in Tacoma, WA, and it focuses on dogs that need more care than usual. Owners looking for dog boarding in Tacoma can choose it for a social, healthy dog or for a senior, special-needs, or medical dog. Overnight stays cost $35 to $45 per night.

What services does The Muttropolitan offer?

Boarding is the main service, but the facility also offers daycare, grooming, and training under one roof. Cats can board here too, which helps households with more than one kind of pet.

• Overnight dog boarding and cat boarding
• Dog daycare with indoor play
• Grooming during or outside a stay
• Training, including board-and-train options
• Pickup and drop-off service

What makes it different from a typical kennel?

The Muttropolitan calls itself an alternative kind of boarding and daycare facility. Its specialty is dogs that need more time and attention from people, such as seniors, dogs on medication, and dogs with medical conditions. Staff can give medication and follow special diets during a stay.

Rooms range from privacy suites with furniture for lounging to traditional secure kennels for dogs that need a more contained space. The idea is to fit the setup to each dog instead of running every dog through the same routine.

What does a boarding day look like?

Boarding dogs get 3 potty walks a day and up to 3 meals. Owners can bring their own food for dogs with sensitive diets, or the kennel will provide Kirkland Lamb & Rice. Beds and blankets are supplied, and owners get text updates with photos while they are away.
