The Elegant Pooch

The Elegant Pooch is a small, cage-free dog boarding and daycare facility at 3022 S Cedar St in Lansing, MI, and it offers grooming too. It focuses on smaller dogs. It boards dogs up to 30 lbs, plus geriatric pets over 10 years old.

What is a stay like here?

The Elegant Pooch calls itself a crateless facility. Dogs stay in private suites instead of crates or kennel runs, and each suite has a TV. Throughout the day, dogs go out to a secure, fenced outdoor play area for potty breaks every 2 hours. There is also indoor play space.

The kennel's website has a warm, personal tone. The staff write about wanting dogs to stay calm in an unfamiliar place, and that is the main reason they skip crates.

Services and amenities

• Cage-free boarding in private suites with TVs
• Daycare for dogs who need somewhere to spend the day
• Secure fenced outdoor play area with potty breaks every 2 hours
• Medication administration during stays
• Grooming with spa-line shampoos and conditioners

Who is it a good fit for?

This place suits owners of small dogs and older pets. If your dog is under 30 lbs or over 10 years old, it falls within the kennel's boarding limits. The shop also lists cat grooming among its services, so it may suit households with both dogs and cats.

Getting in and out is easy. The lot has plenty of accessible parking for senior and disabled clients, which helps at drop-off with an older dog.
