Shady Glen Boarding Kennel

Shady Glen Boarding Kennel offers dog boarding in Belchertown, MA, at a family-owned facility on 37 Amherst Rd. Dogs stay in indoor/outdoor kennels, each with a 5'x12' covered run, on a secure and fully fenced-in property. The kennel has a capacity of 20, and the owners live on the premises. Cats are boarded here as well.

What is a stay at Shady Glen like?

Shady Glen is a traditional boarding kennel. Playtime is individualized, and dogs can go out for leash walks during their stay. The building has central air and heat, so the kennels stay comfortable in both summer and winter. Soft music plays 24 hours a day, which may help a nervous boarder settle in.

Key services and amenities:

• Indoor/outdoor kennels with 5'x12' covered runs
• Individualized playtime and leash walks
• Central air and heat
• Special diets and medication administration
• Video surveillance inside and out

What makes this kennel different?

The biggest difference is who is around after hours. Because the owners live on the premises, dogs have supervision around the clock. Video surveillance covers the facility inside and out. A back-up generator keeps things running during a power outage, which matters for heating and cooling.

The kennel's website describes its goal as a safe, comfortable and fun place for pets while their families are away. The features it lists back that up with practical things: fencing, cameras, climate control and people on site.

What should owners know before booking?

Rates published on the kennel's website run from $42 to $75 per day. Vaccinations are required, so have your dog's records ready before the first stay. The kennel can follow a special diet and give medications, and owners should mention those needs when they call.

Booking is done by phone at (413) 323-7349. The kennel can also be reached by email at shadyglenkennel@gmail.com.
