Original Bark

Original Bark is a dog boarding and daycare facility at 8526 SW Terwilliger Blvd. in Portland, Oregon, that also offers grooming and guided nature hikes. It is one of two Portland locations run under the Original Bark name. Boarding is open 365 days a year, so holiday travel is covered.

What services does Original Bark offer?

Dogs can stay overnight, spend the day at daycare, or get groomed on site. The facility also runs on-leash group nature hikes through Portland parks, which suits dogs who need more than indoor play. Key amenities include:

• Private kennels and suites in standard, junior, and large sizes
• Climate-controlled indoor play space with slip-resistant flooring
• Webcam access so owners can check in from afar
• Medication administration for dogs on a routine
• Pickup and drop-off service

How does a first visit work?

New guests start with a free temperament evaluation. The kennel describes this as a chance for staff to meet the dog and get a feel for its personality and play style. Vaccinations are required, so owners should have current records ready. Booking is done online, and the front desk can help by phone for anyone who would rather talk it through.

What does boarding cost?

Nightly boarding rates published on the website range from $52 to $164. The full rate breakdown is listed on the Original Bark website, which is the best place to check before booking a stay.

What is the place like?

The team talks about its approach in terms of personal attention and safe supervision, and it calls itself a home away from home for Portland dogs. Days are built around play, exploring, and rest. Evenings in the private kennels are meant to be calm and quiet. For owners who want boarding, daycare, outdoor time, and grooming in one spot, it covers a lot of ground.
