Kansas City K9 Academy

Kansas City K9 Academy is a training-focused facility in Lee's Summit, Missouri, offering dog boarding, board-and-train programs and private obedience lessons. It sits at 1584 SW Market Street, and training shapes nearly everything it does.

Who can board here?

Dog boarding in Lee's Summit at this academy is open to current and former training clients only. That makes it a good fit for families whose dogs already know the trainers and the routine. Because obedience is the core of the program, a boarding stay doubles as a chance for a dog to keep practicing its manners. Owners who haven't trained here yet would usually start with a board-and-train program instead.

What services does it offer?

• Board-and-train obedience programs
• Private dog training and puppy training
• Behavior correction for dogs with problem habits
• Doggy boarding for current and former clients
• Unlimited group classes for the life of the dog

What makes it different from a typical kennel?

The academy houses fewer dogs than large boarding facilities, and dogs are supervised around the clock. Training sits at the center of the business rather than being an add-on to kennel space. Clients also get unlimited group classes for the life of their dog, which helps keep skills sharp long after a program ends.

There's a practical perk too. Military members and first responders receive 10% off.

How do owners get started?

Booking is handled by phone at 816-744-6444. New clients can begin with a free consultation, evaluation and temperament test, which gives the trainers a read on a dog before they recommend a program.
