Hickory Hill Pet Care Center

Hickory Hill Pet Care Center is a kennel at 20 Hickory Hill Rd in Gill, MA, offering overnight dog boarding in luxury suites or standard kennels. Staff are on site 24 hours a day, and the kennel accepts small, medium, and large dogs. Published rates run from $26 to $62 per night.

What kinds of rooms can a dog stay in?

There are three options. The Westminster suites are indoor/outdoor luxury suites, each with a private outside run. The Destination suites are home-style rooms with radiant heat, air conditioning, and a TV, and the kennel describes them as the quieter choice. Standard kennels come with covered 60 sq ft outdoor runs, so dogs in the simplest accommodation still have sheltered outdoor space.

What does Hickory Hill offer beyond a place to sleep?

Exercise can be a real part of the stay. Dogs can go on one- or two-mile scenic leashed walks along the roads of rural Gill, or have off-lead playtime in the exercise yard. Other services cover the practical side of a stay:

• Grooming
• Doggie Van pick-up and drop-off
• Medication administration
• Guests' own diets and bedding accommodated
• Climate-controlled accommodations

Owners who worry about a change in routine can send their dog's usual food and bedding along. The kennel's site suggests a familiar bed from home helps a dog settle.

What are the practical details?

Vaccinations are required for boarding. Reservations are made online through the kennel's website, thehickoryhillkennel.com.

The kennel is open 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday and Saturday hours are 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Sunday hours are 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Those shorter windows matter when planning drop-off and pick-up, so check the schedule before locking in travel plans.
