Dog Day Getaway

Dog Day Getaway is a dog boarding and daycare facility at 14607 Felton Ct in Apple Valley, MN, serving Twin Cities owners who need care for a day or a longer stay. It received the 2026 Readers' Choice Award for Best Kennel/Boarding Facility. It accepts dogs of every size, from small breeds up to giants.

What services does Dog Day Getaway offer?

The 12,000 square foot building has both indoor and outdoor play areas, so dogs can stay active whatever the Minnesota weather is doing. Boarding includes cage-free options and private suites. Owners can also have their dog bathed on site or use the self-wash stations themselves.

• Daycare with indoor and outdoor play
• Overnight boarding in individual rooms with raised Kuranda beds and fleece blankets
• Medication administration and special diets, including raw diets for boarders
• Webcam access so owners can check in during the day
• Bathing, self-wash stations, and an exclusive event room

What sets it apart?

The team describes the place as a second home for dogs, and the setup supports that in practical ways. The building is climate controlled, runs commercial ventilation, and gets an industrial cleaning every day. Each boarding dog sleeps in its own room on a raised bed instead of the floor.

Every new dog starts with a required orientation trial day, and it's free. The visit lets staff confirm that a dog is a good fit for the play environment before any daycare or boarding stay is booked.
