City Dogs Roanoke

City Dogs Roanoke is a dog boarding and daycare facility at 801 Norfolk Ave SW in Roanoke, VA. It offers overnight stays, daytime group play, grooming and pool time in one building. Dogs spend the day playing in compatible groups, then settle into their own private spaces at night.

What services does City Dogs offer?

• Climate-controlled boarding, plus luxury suites with wall-mounted flat screen TVs and large Kuranda suite beds
• Daycare with large indoor and outdoor play areas
• A swimming pool with group swims, private swims and swim lessons
• Spa services: bathing, nail trims, brush outs, de-matting and shed-less treatments
• Medication administration and special diets for dogs who need them

What sets it apart?

A lot of the focus is on safety. During group play the facility follows a no-collar 'play naked' policy, which keeps collars from getting caught while dogs wrestle. Its fire alert system is connected to the Roanoke City fire department. Staff on hand hold Pet Tech first aid and CPR certification, and the business is an IBPSA member.

The pool is a draw of its own. Dogs that love the water can join group swims, and nervous or first-time swimmers can do private sessions or lessons.

On its website the team comes across as warm and dog-focused. The owners call themselves dog people who built the kind of place they would trust with their own pets.

Practical details

The website lists boarding rates from $45 to $69 per night. There is no set checkout time, so owners pay for only the one night. The facility is open 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM Monday through Friday and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Those early weekday hours can help owners who start work early or finish late.

Vaccinations are required. Bookings are made by phone at (540) 206-3299.
