Nestled on 3.5 acres just outside Morgantown, West Virginia, Barkbarn brings a home-away-from-home approach to dog care. Founded by Alana Cruz in 2021, what began as neighborhood dog walking has grown into a full-service boarding, daycare, and training operation built on the promise that every dog is treated like family.

Because Barkbarn operates out of the owners' home rather than a commercial kennel, dogs enjoy easy access to yards, trails, and a small, familiar pack rather than rows of runs. Boarding pups are taken out every couple of hours, with bedtime around 10 p.m. and wake-up at 7 a.m., mirroring the rhythm of a real household.

Training is a particular specialty, with founder Alana Cruz leading in-home board-and-train sessions that include video progress updates, an in-person mid-program lesson, and follow-up visits after the dog returns home. Meet-and-greets are available for prospective clients who want to meet the team before booking, since the facility itself isn't open for walk-through tours.
