The Pet Lodge

The Pet Lodge is a dog boarding and daycare kennel at 5970 Peach Parkway in Fort Valley, GA, and it also takes cats and handles grooming. Reservations are made by phone, at 478-822-1221. Dogs with medical needs are part of the regular mix here: staff administer medications, feed special diets, and there are veterinary services on site.

How the dogs are housed

Most boarding dogs stay in runs measuring 4x4 or 4x6 inside, opening onto a covered concrete run of 4x10 or 4x12. Six-foot solid walls separate the runs, so dogs are never nose to nose with a neighbor. The kennel building is heated, with the dog doors closed on cold nights, and an air exchange system cycles the air three times per minute. Owners who want their dog indoors can ask about The Den, which takes up to two dogs, or The Garden Room, which takes up to three.

Dogs head out to a 20x20 gravel play yard several times a day. Fifteen-minute one-on-one woodland walks can be added to a stay.

Practical details

The lodge is open 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Saturday, and 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday. Booking is by phone rather than an online form. Documentation of current vaccinations is required.
