The Pampered Pet Resort

The Pampered Pet Resort handles dog boarding, doggie daycare, and cat care in Hoover, AL, from a facility at 2193 Parkway Lake Dr. Overnight dogs stay in one of 84 runs or 13 furnished luxury suites, and the resort has room for up to 97 guests at a time. It is a member of the American Boarding Kennel Association.

Where dogs sleep and play

Each run measures 4ft by 5ft and comes with a Kuranda bed. The suites are larger at 6ft by 8ft, furnished with beds and themed decor. Accommodations are climate controlled. Outside there are five play yards plus a large fenced area that is naturally wooded and shaded, which counts for a lot in an Alabama July. Indoor play space means groups still get exercise when the weather turns.

Food and daily care

Guests get room service two or more times a day. Meals are a sensitive-stomach kibble, or owners can send premeasured food from home. Staff take dogs out for potty and play breaks at least four times daily and can give medication when a dog needs it. The paw spa covers baths and nail trims.

Practical details

Doors open at 7:00 AM Monday through Friday and close at 6:00 PM, with Saturday running 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Sunday is a short window, 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Booking goes through the phone line at (205) 397-3197 rather than an online form, so it pays to call early for holiday weeks. Vaccinations must be current for every guest, dog or cat.
