The Local Bark

The Local Bark is a dog boarding and daycare facility at 3201 Fitzgerald Road in Rancho Cordova, CA, that also offers grooming and training. Every overnight stay includes all-day supervised play. In practice, a boarding stay here is a long day of play followed by a quiet night in a climate-controlled room.

What does a boarding stay include?

Owners choose from five room sizes, from standard rooms up to suites and a penthouse. The kennel's website lists nightly rates from $51 to $111. Families with more than one dog get 10% off when their dogs share a room. Dogs that do better with people than with other dogs can stay in private boarding, where they interact only with staff.

What sets it apart?

The play space stands out. The Local Bark has 10,000 square feet of outdoor space plus an indoor play area for bad-weather days. Small dogs have their own play area, which helps if your dog is easily overwhelmed by bigger breeds. Dogs that love water can use the Splash Zone, a 3-foot-deep swimming pool with a beach-style entry.
