The Barking Lot

The Barking Lot is a family-owned pet care facility on 99th Street in Urbandale, Iowa, offering dog boarding and dog daycare alongside grooming and training. Dogs stay in private suites, and the building also houses a cattery, so households with both cats and dogs can handle one drop-off.

Inside the suites

Premium and VIP suites have laminate walls and glass fronts, which gives each dog a quiet, private space. Every suite comes with a Kuranda bed. Staff add soothing music, a night light, and a mix of calming essential oils to help a dog settle in. Dogs are walked at least four times a day, and four house food options are available for picky eaters.

Daycare and other services

Daycare is built around matching each dog to a play group that suits it, rather than one big group for everyone. The programs blend physical activity with mental work, so dogs come home tired. Availability is limited, so emailing ahead is the practical first step. Grooming and training are handled in house as well.
