The Barking Dog

The Barking Dog handles dog boarding and daycare in Scottsdale, Arizona, at 8330 N Pima Center Pkwy, and also does grooming and training on site. Overnight dogs stay in one of three room types, and the daily schedule mixes indoor and outdoor time. The building is climate controlled, with private suites for guests who do better in their own space.

Boarding rooms and the daily routine

Boarding rooms come as studio condos, deluxe condos, or Villas, so owners choose how much room their dog gets. Every boarding guest receives four 15-minute potty walks each day. In summer those walk areas are shaded and misted, which counts for a lot in an Arizona August. Dogs booked for three nights or longer get a complimentary Hydrosurge bath before they head home.

Play and swimming

Exercise here is scheduled rather than incidental. Dogs can get individual 20-30 minute one-on-one playtime sessions with a staff member, plus individual swim time with pool toys. There is indoor swimming as well as outdoor morning swim time, and the outdoor play areas are laid with sport turf. Staff can also administer medication, which matters for older dogs or any dog on a prescription.

The kennel runs 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday and 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, so early drop-offs on a workday are workable. Reservations are handled online.
