SumDog K9 Training

SumDog K9 Training is a training-focused kennel in Deatsville, Alabama, that offers dog boarding alongside obedience, scent tracking and protection work. For owners comparing dog boarding in Deatsville, the main difference is that boarding here sits inside a training program instead of standing apart from it. The website's tagline, "Because Your Home is Not a Zoo," gives a fair sense of the priorities.

What services does SumDog K9 Training offer?

The business pairs traditional boarding with several kinds of training:

• Boarding, including a board and train option
• Group obedience classes
• Scent tracking lessons
• Behavior consulting
• Sport protection training (IGP, formerly known as Schutzhund)

What makes it different from a standard kennel?

Training comes first. The website describes an approach shaped around each dog's needs, with group and board and train formats for different goals. Board and train is aimed at owners who want structured work on obedience and behavior while their dog stays away from home.

Protection training is handled with extra care. The site says it is not offered to every dog or every owner, and it puts heavy weight on safety and responsible ownership. IGP combines tracking, obedience and protection, so it mostly suits owners with sport or competition goals.

When is SumDog K9 Training open?

Weekday hours run from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Saturday hours are 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Sunday hours are 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The evening weekday schedule may work well for owners who are at their jobs during the day.

How do owners get in touch?

The simplest place to start is the website at sumdogk9.com. SumDog K9 Training also has Facebook, Instagram and TikTok pages, and those can give owners a feel for the training style before they reach out about boarding or classes.
