Camp Happy Dog

Camp Happy Dog is a dog boarding and daycare facility on a historic farm at 50 Falcon Lane in Murphy, North Carolina. Owner Kay, known around the camp as "Auntie Kay," began welcoming dogs in 2014 and opened Camp Happy Dog in 2016. She is a Pat Miller Level 1 Graduate certified dog trainer through Cold Nose College in Murphy. She also holds Dog*tec dog-walker and pet-sitter certification and Pet-Tech First Aid and Canine CPR certification.

Boarding packages

Overnight rates published on the camp's site run from $52 to $90 per night. Comfy Stay at $52 covers a raised cot, supervised care, two outdoor play times, and multiple potty breaks. Stay & Play at $70 adds enrichment daycamp, free play for socialization, pupsicles, a report card with pictures, and late checkout. Platinum Stay & Play at $90 adds more outside time, upgraded bedding, a bedtime tuck-in, and daily picture updates sent to the owner's phone.

What makes it different

The camp runs on the founders' farm in the mountains of Western North Carolina, so dogs get grass fields and tree cover rather than a strip-mall yard. Every dog goes through a temperament assessment, and playgroups are grouped by size, play style, and energy level. Staffing is full-time, and the camp states that care is available to boarding dogs 24/7. Baths and nail trims are add-on services only; the staff are not licensed groomers and refer scissor work to local salons.

Booking is handled by phone at (828) 361-5678. Hours are 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Saturday and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday, with narrower drop-off and pickup windows for overnight guests. Small, medium, and large dogs are all accepted with current vaccination records.
