Advanced Animal Care of Colorado

Advanced Animal Care of Colorado is an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital at 1530 Riverside Ave. in Fort Collins that also offers dog boarding and doggie daycare. Because the lodging is inside a working animal hospital, a vet is on site while dogs stay. That may suit dogs that take medication or eat a special diet.

What services does it offer?

The facility boards both dogs and cats, and it runs daycare for dogs. Its website says daycare focuses on fun, exercise and manners. Key amenities include:

• Individual dog suites with full-height doors and access to an exercise yard
• Family suites so dogs from the same household can stay together
• An indoor in-ground dog pool and indoor play space
• A partially covered outdoor yard
• Medication administration and special attention time sessions

What makes it different from a standard kennel?

The main draw is the on-site veterinary team. The hospital is AAHA accredited, is an AAFP member and is a certified Cat Friendly Practice. Cats stay in multi-level condos with climbing shelves on a sunny mezzanine, so households with both cats and dogs can board everyone in one place.

Owners can choose the house Royal Canin food or bring their own. On its website, the hospital stresses clear communication and taking time with each pet. That approach helps if a dog needs extra handling.
